A letter to the congregation of Spirit of Joy, Christmas 2021
Dear friends,
I know. You are tired of this stupid virus. You tired of the restrictions, and being cautious and worrying about the next thing. I’m tired too.
The good news is that we – people of faith – we were made for just such moment as this. Saint Paul encourages us, “Let us never grow weary of doing what is good.”
Let us not grow weary – but let us love our neighbor with joy.
In the midst of the on-going public health crisis that is the CoronaVirus and in light of the case numbers here in Montgomery County, we at Spirit of Joy! strongly encourage you to wear a mask if you are worshiping with us this Christmas.
Seating in the Worship Space will be spread out to allow 6-10 feet between family units as we worship, and the space will be well ventilated.
In the interest of those for whom in-person worship is not an option – either because of vulnerable health, family travel, or any other reason – we will be continuing to live stream all of our worship.
You worship with us online on the Spirit of Joy! Lutheran Church FB page, OR by searching for the church name in your app store and downloading our app.
The call of the Gospel is to care for every member of our community — especially the most vulnerable among us. We give thanks for healthcare workers and public health officials in this difficult season, and the gifts and talents that God has given to them as they care for and advise us.
However you worship this Christmas, I pray that you experience the overwhelming joy of the God-made-flesh. You are in my prayers daily,
Pastor David
